Children use problem solving and communication skills to solve a physical challenge.

  1. Children have to work together in small teams, using problem solving and communication skills to solve a physical challenge.
  2. They have to transport a fox, chicken and some grain (represented by cards taken from the Activity Sheet) across a river (represented by the playing area).
  3. They must ensure that the fox is never left on its own with the chicken and that the chicken is never left on its own with the grain.

Summary

  1. Children use their Enrich interactive map to locate a series of interactive control markers.
  2. When they locate a marker, they use a digital devuce to scan the QR code on the marker to activate a short video clip.
  3. This demonstrates how to do a short exercise routine. They complete the routine and then progress on to another marker.
  4. As they complete the trail, children record information on an activity sheet.
  5. They use these activity sheets to map their progress in fitness and stamina as they repeat the trail over a number of weeks.

  3. Children will navigate around the course and scan the QR codes on the markers that they locate. Answers and observations will be recorded on their activity sheet

  1. Split the children into small groups and provide them with quipment that represents a fox, a chicken and some grain
  2. Set out a large area with a starining point and a finish point at either end. Children must transport the items one at a time from the start to the finish point. The stipulation is that the fox can not be left with the chicken and the chicken can not be left with the grain

Summary

  1. Children work in a small grouop to plan a circuit which starts/finishes at one of the markers and incorporates several other markers.
  2. The size of their circuit should add up to 1 mile when completed a set number of times.
  3. They must measure the size of potential circuits by measuring the distance in cm between individual markers on their Enrich School Orienteering map and then converting this to metres, using the scale on their map.

  1. Pupils use the Enrich school orienteering map to locate their starting point and specific control points.
  2. At each control point, pupils fill in the 3rd and 4th number from the control marker on their Activity Sheet.
  3. They combine these two numbers to make a two-digit number.
  4. They then add and subtract either 17, 18 or 19 from the two-digit number that they have made and record their answer on their Activity Sheet.
