Activity: 4D Orienteering

Students use their orienteering maps to follow a route around the school and record information, using the ‘4 D’s’ of navigation.


  • Students use their orienteering map to follow a route around control points on the school site.
  • As they travel between control points, they record information on their Activity Sheet.
  • This is based on the ‘4 D’s’ of navigation – Destination, Direction, Distance and Description.
