Activity: Dividing by 10 and 100

Pupils use their Enrich school orienteering maps to locate specific control points. At each one, they record the numbers from the control marker to create a two or three-digit number. They divide this by either 10 or 100 and show their answer as a decimal.

Summary

  1. Pupils use the Enrich school orienteering map to locate their starting point and specific control points.
  2. At each control point, pupils record either the 3rd and 4th numbers or the 2nd, 3rd and 4th numbers from the control marker and combine the numbers to create either a two or three-digit number.
  3. Pupils then divide the number they have created by either 10 or 100 and record their answer as a decimal.
