Activity: Rounding Decimals

Pupils use their Enrich school orienteering maps to locate specific control points. At each one, they record the four numbers from the control marker, creating numbers with 2 decimal places. They use these to either round to the nearest whole number or the nearest 1 decimal place.

Summary

  1. Pupils use the Enrich school orienteering map to locate their starting point and specific control points and fill in the four numbers from the control marker. The Activity Sheets include a decimal point between the 1st/2nd and 3rd/4th numbers, so that pupils create a number with two decimal places.
  2. Using the numbers that they create, pupils then have to round up/down to the nearest whole number or to the nearest 1 decimal place.
