Activity: What’s the Difference?

Children use pairs of numbers from the Enrich Phonics and Number Markers to practise subtracting one and two digit numbers to 20.

Summary

  • Children locate Phonics and Number Control Markers from their picture.
  • At each marker, they select the pair of numbers and find the difference between them by subtracting the left hand number from the right hand number.
  • They can either record the sum as a number sentence or just record the answer on their Activity Sheet.

Adding and Subtracting 17,18,19

Pupils use their Enrich school orienteering maps to locate specific control points. At each one, they record the 3rd and 4th numbers from the control marker. They combine the two numbers to make a two-digit number and then add and subtract either 17,18 or 19 from this number.
