Enrich Education’s ‘Active Reading for Pleasure through Quidditch’ creates additional opportunities for children to be physically active, alongside encouraging them to read for pleasure. The resource provides over 190 fun PE games and activities which are directly linked to key moments or events in the Harry Potter novels. Each year group’s activities are associated with one of the novels.

Teachers can build the activities and games into their PE lessons alongside reading the novel with their class, or whilst children read the novel independently. Many of the activities include an element of Quidditch and help children develop the skills and understanding to play in full Quidditch games.

For each activity, there are instructions on how to set up and play the activity, some suggestions for coaching points, and the link to an incident or event in the Harry Potter novel.

Year 3 – “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone”, “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets”.

Year 4 – “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban”, “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire”.

Year 5 – “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix”, “Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince”.

Year 6 – “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows”.
