The adult calls out the name of pictures on the Enrich Education Phonics / Number Markers as initial phoneme, followed by the rest of the word e.g. t – orch, qu – een etc.
Children have to run to the marker with the correct picture.

Half of the group stand in the playing area holding word cards. The other half of the group are in teams, each of which has a small ball.
The adult calls a word and a child from each team has to ‘capture’ the correct word by finding the word card and rolling a ball through the legs of the child that is holding it.
Children take turns to select a word card. They read the word on the card, then collect the corresponding object or picture and run back with them to their team.
