Activity: Habitat Build

Children experiment with building micro-habitats around the school site and then observing them to see if they have been colonised by mini-beasts.

Summary

  1. In groups, children use their School Orienteering Maps to identify locations around the school site.
  2. They collect suitable materials and use them to create a microhabitat for minibeasts.
  3. They follow up at a later stage to observe and identify any minibeasts that have colonised their microhabitat.
